Georgetown Pottery Jeff Peters, originally from California, moved to Maine with some college friends after finishing his third year as a ceramics student. Jeff and his friend John Okie found a small log cabin for sale on a trip to Reid State Park. Soon after the Georgetown Pottery began in that one room log cabin on the rocky island of Georgetown on the mid coast of Maine. Georgetown Pottery has been handcrafting fine porcelain pottery since 1972.
All of their pottery is made by local Maine potters and hand decorated with stunning glazes. Their functional porcelain is meant to be used. They have designed porcelain ikebana vases to be simple, graceful, and elegant. Ikebana is the Japanese the art of flower arranging. Add a little more zen to your home with their peaceful ceramic fountains. The Salt Urchin is a novel and fun way to store and serve your salt. Rather than having holes on the top like traditional salt shakers, the hole is on the bottom. The clever design keeps salt from falling out and delivers a consistent dose. To use, you simply give the urchin a quick shake upwards. The salt stored inside will fill a small measured cylinder and fall out the bottom. The design is inherently resistant to moisture buildup, making them perfect for humid areas. |
